Welcome to the official website of the National Archives, Department of Museums, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Brunei Darussalam. Archive System "e-Archive" is one of the e-government projects implemented under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports managed and operated by the National Archives. This website has two (2) main purposes, namely:
• To provide database for archival records collection of various media such as government files, photographs, audio-visual recordings, records of cartography and historical interviews, over 25 years of age;
• To provide public records management services, aged 25 years and below created by the Ministries and Government Departments. The records only accessible to the National Archives and creating agencies(provenance).
In this project, a total 2.8 million of archival materials have been transfered and stored in digital format. We anticipate this amount will increase from time to time. Users can now access to the digital records on-line, and refer to the original materials only when it is really necessary. This will help to preserve the original materials in the long run.
Archive System "e-Archive" of Brunei Darussalam is to allow the public to access some of the archival collection from anywhere at any time on-line.
The National Archives will make every effort to provide excellent services to all users and stakeholders to fulfill its role as a research and resource centre. We hope this website will facilitate and enhance further the administration of the National Archives and public access in line with the current technological development.
Since this website is the first established in Brunei Darussalam, the management anticipates some limitations. The management welcomes any constructive views to improves this website.
